Plans for the creation of up to 81,000 sq ft of modern office design space have been given the go ahead as part of the overall plans for construction of the London 2012 International Broadcast Centre (IBC) and Main Press Centre (MPC).
The IBC will offer 52,000 sq ft, while the MPC will boast a further 29,000 sq ft of modern office design, where administrative staff, press and other officials can work during the Games.
Sebastian Coe, chair of the London 2012 Organising Committee, said: "This decision marks a significant step towards the provision of the best possible working environment for the 20,000 members of the world's broadcasters, press and photographers in the summer of 2012. "
Meanwhile, the Edinburgh International Conference Centre is set to benefit from some modern office design following ratification of plans to build a 20,000 sq ft extension to the centre at a forecast cost of £85 million.
