A new mixed-use development in Sunderland has been put forward to help small firms.
The £6 million project will provide office interior space for start-up companies and entrepreneurs and will help to address the shortage of prime rental property in the area, Sunderland council member Bryan Charlton noted.
Overall, the project aims to deliver 40,000 sq ft of new managed office space for the region.
He commented: "The purpose of the Washington Managed Workspace is to attract, start and grow a range of businesses by the provision of high-quality flexible space and the appropriate technical infrastructure."
Potential sites are presently being examined and a full planning application is likely to be submitted in the near future.
Elsewhere, one of the largest office construction projects could be about to get underway on Merseyside following the submission of plans for the £5.5 billion Liverpool Waters scheme.
The project aims to deliver hundreds of thousands of sq ft of new office space, as well as the 55-storey Shanghai Tower.
