Printing firm delivers sustainability tips Offices looking to improve their sustainability credentials should send more digital documents, one industry commentator has stated.

Printer firm Xerox has this week released a number of paper usage tips intended to help organisations reduce their impact upon the environment.

According to the company, asking workers to be selective about what they print can drastically reduce paper wastage, as can encouraging people to view documents digitally and storing information required for filing in electronic formats rather than physical ones.

However, the company believes that using both sides of all paper can be the most effective way of reducing waste.

"It's called duplex printing and it is the single best way to reduce paper use. So choose copiers, digital printers and multifunction devices that can print on both sides of the paper. Add duplex as your "default" mode," Xerox states.

Additionally, selecting paper that hails from ecologically sound sources can help in the sustainability drive, it asserts.

In recent weeks, Xerox announced that it had developed a calculator intended to help those looking to improve their office design in terms of environmental impact.
