Companies planning an overhaul of their office design to improve their security systems have been advised to get in the professionals.
Adrian Platts, spokesman for the Business Crime Reduction Centre, said a certified professional should always be consulted when considering these office design issues, as failure to do so can leave gaps that criminals could exploit.
He commented: "As most security systems are customised to the clients' needs, these installers have the expert knowledge to recommend secure systems."
Mr Platts added that most professional security firms will offer companies free quotes for work.
Gary Wingrove, head of construction programme management at BT Group Property and incoming president of the British Council for Offices, recently said that the impact of well-thought-out office design should not be underestimated.
He claimed that a properly designed workspace can help to motivate workers and it can also keep them happier in their roles.
