ProLogis commits to BREEAM standard for new office layout
04-04-2008
ProLogis has stated that all new warehouse and office interiors being constructed in the UK will be in-line with global green standards. The company intends all its new premises to rate 'very good' on the BREEAM scale, which is the industry standard for eco-friendly workspaces ranging from 'pass' to 'excellent'.
ProLogis has so far constructed eight distribution facilities that have been rated by BREEAM, amounting to 3.1 million square feet in space.
Maurice Dalton, regional head of construction for the UK, said they could also retroactively upgrade a large amount of existing space if there was demand, Property Week reports.
ProLogis head of global construction, Jack Rizzo, said that the company detailed plans earlier in the year to bring all US warehouse space to green building standards.
"So we are extremely pleased to now be implementing a similar program outside the United States," he added.
Elsewhere, a mid-Wales office has rated 'excellent' on the BREEAM scale and won an award for its innovative construction and office interior.
