Oil company Shell has announced plans to move offices next year ahead of a far-reaching refurbishment of its London headquarters.
The company will move out of the Shell Centre in Waterloo and carry out an office relocation to 200,000 sq ft of new premises at 40 Bank Street in Canary Wharf.
It has signed a ten-year lease for the office space, with up to 2,000 members of staff making the switch while refurbishment work is carried out on its old home.
"Shell has no permanent plans to leave the tower building on the South Bank and will remain a major employer in the area with established connections to the local community," a spokesperson for the company commented.
Elsewhere, an office construction project has been completed at Two Kingdom Street in Paddington.
One of the floors of the building has been signed on a pre-letting agreement to global pharmaceutical company Astra Zeneca, leaving 160,000 sq ft available for rent.
