Energy giant Shell has carried out a temporary move to new premises in London as part of its scheme to carry out a major refit of its UK headquarters.
The company is presently staying in 187,000 sq ft at Canary Wharf - in the building formerly used by Barclays.
Shell is set to stay at these premises for at least the next ten years, while major office refurbishment work is carried out on its London offices. The company is paying £37.50 per sq ft for the space, with the first four years rent-free.
Chairman of Shell UK James Smith said: "The site is an exceptional location in one of the world's great cities. We want to redevelop it to its full, modern potential in keeping with the continuing development of London's South Bank."
The company presently employs approximately 8,600 people in the UK and is a leading player in the extraction of oil in the North Sea.
The Shell Centre - situated on the south bank of the Thames in London - is to be the global headquarters for Shell's downstream business and supporting functions.
