Providing an impetus for firms to take on staff should be a priority for the government at the moment, it has been claimed.
A spokeswoman for the Federation of Small Businesses (FSB) said the government needs to make it easier for companies to take on more staff, which in turn could result in a boost for the office relocation sector as firms look to move to bigger premises.
Indeed, the FSB representative noted that changes to the law regarding payroll costs could be one way to achieve this.
She commented: "Small and medium-sized businesses make up 99 per cent of businesses in the UK and they employ more than half of the private sector workforce. Small firms truly are the backbone of the economy."
Meanwhile, Simon Jones, research project manager for officebroker.com, recently argued that growing confidence in terms of pricing and demand over the coming months could see the UK's office sector begin to flourish.
He added that returns on UK office interior space could be much better than at present by the end of next year.
