While working within the office interiors of their employer, the average staff member in the UK spends 10 minutes and 15 seconds on social media websites, after starting work at 8.09am.
That is according to new research from Mars Drinks UK, which shows that on average office workers in the UK spend £3.23 on their lunch each day.
The average lunch break among office staff lasts for less than half an hour (28 minutes and 51 seconds), the company’s researchers discovered, while more than half (51.32%) of people opt to eat at their desk.
In terms of personal emails, the typical worker spends seven minutes sending messages of a non-business nature during the working day.
Jenni Morgan, Mars Drinks UK’s trade marketing manager, stated: "Our office census provides a fascinating detailed insight into the working day of Mr and Mrs Average, and it is a welcome relief to learn that the majority of employees are happy in their jobs."
