Success of the Green Deal 'is important'

The success of the coalition government's incoming Green Deal is extremely important both in terms of sustainability and for the reputation of the Cabinet, it has been claimed.
Gordon Miller, sustainability and communications director of Sustain Worldwide, said businesses and members of the public will either give their backing to the initiative or they will not.
However, it is imperative that the policy has an impact, or serious questions will need to be asked of the policies of the government concerning how it is tackling the issue of climate change in the UK.
He commented: "If that ambition is to be realised, it's clearly very important that the green deal is a success - at least for the reputation of the coalition government."
According to designer and presenter of Channel 4's Grand Designs Kevin McCloud, sustainable office design and other measures need to be based on clear information and if this not forthcoming, it could put government targets for carbon reduction in jeopardy.
