Guardian News & Media (GNM) has seen its London premises recognised for its sustainable office design.
The Carbon Trust Standard granted the firm's Farringdon offices a successful environmental audit and revealed the building has reduced its carbon output by seven per cent over the last year.
Claire Buckley, GNM's environmental manager, said: "We have an ambitious vision of being a carbon positive company, making a positive contribution to the climate change through editorial coverage, and minimising the negative carbon impact of our business."
She added that the next challenge will be to set up a more ambitious carbon management strategy for the future.
Elsewhere in the capital, the British Institute of Technology and eCommerce (BITE) has let 10,090 sq ft of office interior space at 23 King Street in London.
The deal was managed by APM Property Consultants and represents a substantial saving for the owner of the building, as the two-year lease to BITE came at a time when the property was unoccupied and in need of short-term tenant.
