St Paul's Square in Liverpool has received a sustainability boost through the construction of a new sedum roof at the premises.
The new environmentally-friendly upgrade at the site was carried out by Shepherd Construction and helps the property to absorb rainwater, adds further insulation and also provides a place for wildlife to prosper in the heart of the city.
Nick Summerfield, project leader for Shepherd Construction, said: "This is the first sedum roof to be fitted to an office building in the heart of Liverpool's commercial quarter and as well as boosting the sustainability of the structure, it will also help improve the environment for those working in the offices."
Meanwhile, Guardian News & Media recently received recognition for its sustainable office design from the Carbon Trust Standard for its efforts to reduce emissions at its Farringdon headquarters.
The firm reduced its carbon output by seven per cent during the last year and now has plans to implement a more ambitious carbon management strategy for the future.
