Sustainability features of Yorkshire college revealed

Sustainable office design is to be incorporated into a redeveloped college in North Yorkshire, it has been revealed.Work on the £30 million Selby College will see sustainable energy biomass boilers and solar panels to generate heat and light.
Other sustainability features to be implemented in the college include rainwater recycling and solar shading to keep the building cool during the summer months.
In addition, the college will include performing arts and media facilities, with a sports hall, science laboratories and refectory also due to be a part of the complex.
Construction work on the college is set to be carried out by HBG in October and is scheduled to be complete in 2010.
In related office design news, it was revealed towards the end of last year that a fit out had been completed at the former House & Sons electrical shop in York, creating a mixture of retail, offices and apartments.
