Architecture and Design Scotland (A+DS) has launched a new paper outlining the need for communities to work alongside businesses to aid in sustainable development for the future.
The organisation unveiled the paper at the Scottish Parliament's cross-party group on architecture and the built environment, where it outlined ways to incorporate sustainable design into everyday living.
Speaking after the launch, A+DS chief executive Sebastian Tombs said: "The publication makes clear that creating sustainable places is about much more that creating greener buildings."
He added that it outlines the challenges that the public and private sectors must face to deliver real sustainable development in the UK.
Meanwhile, an office interior development in Manchester has been awarded a BREEAM rating of Excellent.
Crain's Manchester Business reported that One First Street - owned by Ask Developments - achieved the award for its numerous sustainable design features, including a green roof and walls and a water-cooled VRF air conditioning system.
