Businesses are embracing sustainable office design and other green practices once more after the recent recession took many people's minds off these issues, it has been claimed.
Michael Shanks, chief technology officer at Ultraspeed, said a key issue to remember is the impact that equipment has on the environment when it is manufactured.
He commented: "Switching equipment before it has served its full potential and swapping for environmental equipment may have a converse effect resulting in an increased environmental impact."
Indeed, the recession was an "expensive time" for many firms, meaning that many green measures were put on the backburner.
Meanwhile, Sam Jarvis, head of communications at Waste Watch, recently noted that companies could reduce their spending by cutting the amount of waste they create.
He noted that environmental awareness is quickly becoming a major concern for many businesses, with waste reduction a major part of future green plans.
