Sustainable office design 'could help companies promote themselves'

UK consumers want to see businesses taking action on green issues rather than simply talking about doing so, it has been claimed.
Alex Randall, spokesman for the Centre for Alternative Technology, said sustainable office design and other green measures such as recycling and emissions reduction are the key to helping firms get ahead in terms of sustainability.
He commented: "The public aren't stupid; they know an advertising campaign when they see one and I think they will remain unconvinced until they see actual evidence of companies taking it seriously."
Mr Randall added that a quick public relations campaigns that actually has little real environmental value in the long-term is not going to do the trick to turn around consumer opinion.
According to a recent survey commissioned by the Carbon Trust, just seven per cent of consumers believe the word of companies on their climate change responsibilities and actions to reduce their impacts.
