Companies are coming round to the idea that sustainable office design and other green practices can benefit them in the long run, it has been claimed.
John Barwise, chairman of the Cumbria Green Business Forum, said the notion that environmental issues are some form of headache is now past and companies are embracing sustainability in order to boost their brand credibility and bottom lines.
He commented: "The difficulty for some business managers is convincing the firm's accountants and the boardroom that investment in environmental technology is an investment in the future success of the business."
Mr Barwise added that savings can be made in order to reduce overheads and to save energy when firms embrace sustainability ideals.
Meanwhile, Dawn Gibbons MBE, member of the government's newly-formed Entrepreneurs' Forum, recently told Morgan Lovell in its latest podcast that the benefits that recycling schemes can bring to sustainable office design practices should not be ignored.
