Head of the Environment Agency Malcolm Fergusson told attendees of the Sustainable Development conference in London last week (February 23rd) that the organisation is committed to sustainable office design.
Mr Fergusson noted the introduction of the Carbon Reduction Commitment has seen more than 3,000 large organisations already cut back on their emissions, in line with the government's target to reduce carbon by 42 per cent by 2020.
He added, however, that the public sector must do more in the future, as to date just 20 per cent of the 3,000 companies are publicly funded.
Meanwhile, a recent survey carried out by Euroffice.co.uk showed that the attitudes of businesses towards sustainable office design in the UK are the best in the south-west of England.
It found that 95 per cent of respondents in this region said they were supportive of implementing green measures in the years ahead.
