The world cannot afford for the issue of climate change to fall by the wayside as a result of the ongoing financial problems that are being faced around the globe, one sector expert has argued.
Jeremy Farrar, head of Oxford University Clinical Research Unit in Vietnam, told listeners of the Financial Times podcast that companies that they should continue to invest in sustainable office design and governments and said the public and other bodies must remember the importance of tackling this issue.
He commented: "Without political drive and community support for that drive then we are not going to make massive progress in the short or even the medium term."
Kevin Wellman, operations director at the Chartered Institute of Plumbing and Heating Engineering, also recently urged the government to continue to invest in green technologies in order to ensure it meets its carbon reduction commitments over the coming years.
He argued that a failure to do so would be extremely detrimental for both the economy and the environment.
