The world's most sustainable building has been commissioned in China and has achieved BREEAM's Outstanding accreditation for its sustainability.
Named the Wuhan Energy Flower and designed by Dutch company Grontmij, the structure will feature a 120 metre central solar and ventilation chimney and it will have zero carbon emissions, Property Wire reports.
Furthermore, the building will incorporate vertical wind turbines, with the developers hoping the property will be 100 per cent energy independent.
"We took our inspiration from nature itself for this innovative building design. The collective influence of sun, wind and water are integrated into the design of the flower-shaped building," commented Gert Dral, Grontmij Group director of planning and design.
Back in the UK, the winner of the most sustainable office project of the year for Wales was recently announced.
The winner for 2010 was Ceredigion County Council offices, which will become the new home for back room staff of the Welsh Assembly Government, Green Building News reported.
