Sustainable office design to be embraced in Manchester

Businesses across Manchester could soon be set to embrace sustainable office design as companies look to put roof gardens into the modern office design space.
Dr Jeremy Carter, of the University of Manchester, has claimed that in years to come, as temperatures rise as a result of global warming, green space in cities will be at a premium and therefore it would be in developers' best interests to set up roof gardens to provide an area for workers to relax and enjoy outside space.
Work carried out by Dr Carter and office interior management firm Bruntwood noted that the introduction of rooftop green areas could play an integral part in cooling buildings and are a more environmentally friendly solution than air conditioning.
Meanwhile, local paper The Examiner recently reported that businesses look to improve sustainable office design features by embracing using second-hand furniture and ensuring that all lights and PCs are switched off whenever they are not needed.
