A building in Yorkshire which has been the subject of a sustainable office fit out programme has seen the work completed.
Charles Booth, one of the brothers behind the Old Corn Mill project in Penistone near Barnsley, stated that he believes there is a market for sustainable office design.
The work he has carried out on the property has made it one of just a few buildings in the UK that have been classified as being carbon-negative with a BREEAM rating of A+, which means it is helpful rather than harmful to the environment.
"It's been very expensive to set up. We're looking at this from a 15 to 20-year perspective," Mr Booth told BBC News.
"Our view is that we expect electricity costs to double over the next 10 years."
The sustainable office fit out programme includes eco lighting, additional insulation and triple-glazed windows.
Richard Kauntze, chief executive officer of the British Council for Offices, recently stated that office space needs to be adaptable to meet the needs of tenants.
