Businesses have been advised that investment in sustainable office design at their premises is a "win-win" situation.
Etienne Cadestin, sustainability consultant at Knight Frank, said many investors simply look for a quick return on their capital, but investment in sustainable office design has a two-fold benefit of being highly desirable to buyers and also helps promote a greener future.
He commented: "You can save [money] and the zero emissions make yourself look good on paper as well. There is a huge incentive."
Mr Cadestin added that over time, more investors will start caring about the sustainability of their purchases, as the benefits are there for all to see.
According to the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors, after a positive start to the year, occupier demand fell for the second consecutive quarter in the third quarter of 2010.
Expectations for central London office rents stabilised after increasing in the previous quarter, while industrial rents in the capital also broadly stabilised.
