Work is nearly complete on the Tanfield Lea Business Centre near Stanley in County Durham.
The £6.8 million development will offer up to 40,000 sq ft of office interior space spread over three storeys when finished and tenants are to utilise a revolutionary new lettings system designed to attract young, entrepreneurial talent.
Derwentside district council's principal development officer Ross Bullerwell said: "This major development will ... ensure that public sector developments continue to lead the way in encouraging economic growth and sustainability in semi-rural locations."
The building itself has been awarded a BREEAM rating of "Very Good".
Meanwhile, office news portal Choregus recently reported that office space provider Serviced Office Group is to open six new business centres across the UK in Reading, Edinburgh, Bristol, Aylesbury, Birmingham and Wolverhampton.
In total, these six developments will offer 171,000 sq ft of grade A office space to clients - enough space for 3,806 separate workstations, the company claims.
