Tips to make the workplace more environmentally-friendly
12-11-2007
Sustainable workplace expert Morgan Lovell recently outlined a number of ways in which office workers can cut down on waste in terms of resources and energy.Paul Kelly, spokesperson for the firm, commented: "Implementing some small, realistic and achievable changes into the office routine will help to significantly reduce carbon emissions and undoubtedly save money - and ultimately improve the environment of both the office and the planet."
Advice from the company included printing conservatively, switching off computers when they are not in use and allocating someone each week to be in charge of office sustainability practices such as turning off lights and shutting down equipment at the end of the day.
Mr Kelly noted that leaving lights on overnight wastes enough energy to heat 1,000 cups of tea and leaving a computer on all day when it is not being used uses enough energy to laser print 800 sheets of A4 paper.
