Toyota's green office design unveiled

Car manufacturer Toyota has unveiled plans to "go green" at over 3,000 outlets and offices in the UK, it has been revealed.The company hopes to implement its Sustainable Retailers programme in France and Sweden this year before launching it in the UK, according to Newbuilder.co.uk.
Areas of assessment will include energy and water use, land use, pollution, waste and materials, health and well being, management and transport.
Clare Lowe, associate director at BREEAM, said: "We are working with Toyota to develop a bespoke version of BREEAM, specifically geared to their retailers across Europe.
She added that the work involved the tailoring of the UK BREEAM Retail guidance to the specific needs of car showrooms in a European context.
In other news, Crain's Manchester Business reports that it was recently announced that a new excellent classification for BREEAM properties is to be introduced.
To achieve this rating, a building must comply with 85 per cent of current guidelines.
