Workers across the UK need to be given the relevant training in order for green practices and sustainable office design to flourish, it has been claimed.
Alex Randall, a spokesman for the Centre for Alternative Technology, said the government should focus on training and education in this area in order to ensure the shift to low-carbon practices can be implemented more easily by staff.
He commented: "The biggest issue for green businesses is the lack of people with [the] right skills. This is probably the biggest factor stopping the UK moving rapidly towards a low-carbon society."
Meanwhile, Dan Ilett, editor in chief of Greenbang.com, recently claimed that more incentives are needed to urge companies to embrace sustainable office design and to drive forward green practices in the workplace.
He argued a shift in sustainability is reliant on the government putting more emphasis on this area and making it easier and more affordable for companies to clean up their acts.
