The climate change bill received Royal Assent on Wednesday (November 26th) prompting calls for serious action in the way commercial property is created.
Sustainable construction website New Builder has reported that the bill states that the government aims to cut carbon dioxide emissions in the UK by 80 per cent by 2050 and one of the main ways it plans to achieve this is through environmentally sound building methods and the regeneration of older buildings making them more sustainable.
Environmental campaigner Andy Atkins, Friends of the Earth's executive director, said: "The climate change bill is a world class piece of legislation that should make the UK an international leader in tackling climate change."
Meanwhile, in other news, the Agricultural Society recently announced that it is to relocate to a new sustainable office interior in Yorkshire.
The development is expected to cost around £5.1 million and will feature rainwater-harvesting facilities, solar thermal roof panels for hot water and sheep's wool insulation in the building's walls.
