Voltage optimisation 'could boost sustainable office design'

Sustainable office design could receive a boost for firms through the uptake of a new power management technology.
Karen Ford, senior executive of powerPerfector, said the average voltage that enters from mains power to office buildings across the UK is 242 volts.
However, the majority of electrical equipment runs at an optimum of 220 volts, meaning using a tool to switch this voltage could improve energy efficiency.
She commented: "This presents a huge opportunity in UK built environments to save kilowatt hours, because we can optimise power at the point of supply using voltage power optimisation. This will save energy, cost and carbon as well."
According to powerPerfector, the company's Voltage Power Optimisation product can help to reduce energy consumption by up to 20 per cent and prolong the life and reliability of electrical equipment.
