The £4.5 billion Wirral Waters scheme has received the official green light from government planners to get its office construction plans underway in the new year.
Local council leader councillor Jeff Green made the announcement following his return from a trip to China where he had been canvassing for support for the project for business leaders.
He stated: "Now we have full outline planning we can start marketing the scheme properly. There was real interest shown in China in terms of Wirral Waters and Liverpool Waters."
Cllr Green added that this is fantastic news for the region and could result in the creation of up to 26,000 new jobs in the area over the coming ten to 15 years.
Elsewhere, plans for the creation of a new office hub in Liverpool city centre have moved forward following the opening of the pilot phase of the scheme.
The Baltic Triangle area will offer up to 9,000 sq ft of office interior space to small businesses in the city, but there are plans to increase this square footage to closer to 45,000 sq ft once the project is complete.
