Work to begin on Newcastle office design
31-03-2008
It has been announced that construction will soon begin on a new office development situated on the outskirts of Newcastle that is expected to create around 5,000 jobs.Development will be undertaken at the Quorum Business Park in Longbenton, with significant expansion providing a number of new office blocks ranging in size from 30,000 sq ft to 100,000 sq ft.
The Journal reports that a full completion date is scheduled for February 2012, with each building expected to take between nine and 12 months to build.
"This is a good, positive story for the north-east. For the developers and banks to have confidence to look into the future and see there should be demand for new offices here," says Colin Davidson of DTZ, a joint agent in the office design project.
Mr Davidson added that the business park will also provide amenities to improve the working environment, with a hotel, mini-market, dry-cleaner and cafe planned.
Elsewhere in the city, it has also been announced recently that the Newcastle Building Society has completed a move into new office interiors at the Cobalt Business Park in North Tyneside.
