Workers put in 11-hour days: survey

A survey has found that 10% of workers put in 11 hours per day and often take work home in the evenings due to pressures in the tough economic climate.
Workplace services firm Regus found pressure had increased due to the economic downturn and job security concerns.
In the survey of 2,700 adults nearly 50% of staff worked up to nine hours per day, more than a third up to 11 hours, and 10% even more. Many took work home with them at least three times per week.
Hotel chain Premier Inn found in another survey, this time of 2,000 adults, that a third of Britons dream about work, a sign of increasing work-related stress.
The poll revealed that may people’s dreams were dominated by office politics through heavy workloads, long hours and conflicts with others at work.
