The highest scoring Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) building ever planned is nearing completion in the United States.
Independence Station is likely to achieve the highest LEED Green Building Rating ever seen - with a score of between 64 to 66 out of a possible 69 points.
Situated in Independence, Oregon, the office complex is now 40 per cent constructed and is scheduled for completion some time next year.
The structure will benefit from a range of sustainable design innovations, including a 120-kW photovoltaic installation, radiant floor heating and cooling, solar water heating, day lighting design and a water-based ground source heat pump.
Closer to home, Cardiff's newest waterfront development 3 Assembly Square has been awarded a BREEAM rating of Excellent - having achieved a score of 74 per cent for its sustainable design.
Green Building Press reported that in total the structure will offer 66,250 sq ft of new grade A office interiors to tenants.
