Office relocation, design & fit out project in London

Building sustainability from day one
When the British Ecological Society, Biochemical Society and Society for Experimental Biology moved offices, their top priority was getting a BREEAM Excellent rating.
Their new space was in an old 1950’s building, and getting a BREEAM Excellent rating was a top priority, which is no mean feat in such an old building. Because our own head office has a BREEAM Excellent rating, they knew they were in safe hands.
“One of the reasons we chose Morgan Lovell was their sustainable credentials. They understood from day one how important sustainability and a BREEAM rating was to us.” Hazel Norman, Executive Director of the British Ecological Society.
And we didn’t let them down. First up, we designed a really light and spacious feel around the building. Flexible partition walls were then built into the front of house area to give a fresh, open-plan area when they needed it, and privacy when they didn’t. It meant there was less waste too.
Talking of less waste, we were able to reuse a lot of their old furniture. We made sure all the new stuff was sustainable, and made from recycled or highly recyclable material too. So the only footprint they ended up leaving was in the BREEAM records when they achieved their target of Excellent.
