71,500 sq ft design and fit out in Cardiff
How do you design an office for a fast growing finance superstar? Inject it with a solid dose of corporate culture and patriotism, with plenty of space designed for work and play.
Fast growing MotoNovo finance was looking for a new home where their current team could flourish while they continue to grow. They wanted to reflect their fast-paced nature, rewarding culture and Welsh heritage, all while creating a place that colleagues love to call home. No small task for a firm with a top ranking in The Sunday Times 100 Best Companies to Work For.
This dynamic workplace is home to over 800 desks, spread across 71,500 sq ft of space. In order to break this into a series of intimate spaces, we used contrasting colours, textures and colours to define each area.
While the workstations are lit with bright primary colours, the meeting rooms and client areas feature biophilic touches through the form of wooden panelling and slate walls. With such a vast floor space, we used contrasting textures and colours on the carpet to create micro-areas within the open plan area.
MotoNovo is incredibly proud of both their brand and their long Welsh heritage, and we reflected this throughout the fit out design. We’ve reflected Wales stylistically throughout the office – from ‘cwtches’ (Welsh for quiet space or hidey-hole), to a giant mural of Cardiff Castle styled in corporate orange and blue. This is definitely a space that is both patriotic and inspiring!
So much space for productivity had to be balanced with adequate collaboration areas. ‘MotoNovians’ can enjoy views over the River Taff from the staff breakout area, which features a pool table, two racing car simulators, a working bar, and a large cafeteria — which the team recently named ‘One Central Perk’.
The new office provides our staff with a first-class working environment. We continually strive to create a culture in which people move up, not on, so being able to provide the team with offices they can be proud of is hugely significant.Mark Standish, MotoNovo Finance Chief Executive
