Office design & fit out project in London

The future’s bright. The future’s an orange garden
Think of a management consulting firm and chances are you think of a company that’s serious, corporatey and likes lots of blue chairs.
Not so Qedis, a London based management consulting company, who were named as one of the top ten ‘best small companies to work for’ in the Sunday Times list. They wanted to set themselves apart from the norm and build a creative environment that would suit their people centric business, “a personality is not just allowed, it’s a must”. So what was the brief? A design that’s quirky, dynamic and refreshing.
The design team at Morgan Lovell, worked with the unusually shaped space, and inspired by the juicy colour of the Qedis logo, created an orange garden in the centre of the office, with curved sofas for informal meetings, discussions and brainstorming. Whilst orange branches on the ceiling, grass on the floor, traffic and underground signs and a pillar box reinforced the ‘outdoorsy’ feel.
We created a snakes and ladders meeting room with blackboards and curvy seating and space hoppers, and a café area with a ping pong table that can double up as a dining table. Numerous stools on wheels were also installed which can be pulled up around a desk or table for collaborative working.
The company appreciates that sometimes staff need to make a private call, and that’s often difficult in an open plan office. So we installed private phone booths for the team to use. And for good measure we included a real telephone booth as well.
So have the Qedis team settled in to their new surroundings? “People are [already] referring to it as ‘Qedis’s home’. It’s quirky and has the right feel. On the Monday we moved in every area was being used, which shows we got it right.” Vipul Kapadia, people and operations director.
