Bursting with stories, non-fiction and fantasy, the British Library is a hub of inspiration. But when the Library wanted to turn their old storage area into an exciting new learning centre, it was Morgan Lovell that provided the inspiration.
Every story has a challenge, and so did ours. Using a difficult space with no natural light, our task was to create a room that acted as an imaginative learning centre for young children, and a professional meeting room for working adults too.
So to make this room appeal to two completely different groups, we introduced thought-provoking shapes, woven vinyl flooring, magnetic glass and foam light fittings – all making the space inspirational to children, yet mature and interesting enough for adults. But the clever part was installing walls you can write on. For the children it’s a blank canvas for their art activities, and with a single wipe, they become perfect for meetings and presentations too.
And the outcome? We’d say it was a happy ending.
