20% energy savings isn’t hot air. Just ask TalkTalk
TalkTalk wanted to move their head office away from sister company CarPhone Warehouse to establish their own identity.
That meant sustainably fitting out a huge landmark building for 830 people up to ‘BREEAM’ standards. We told them we could save them up to 20% on their energy bills too. They gave us the job.

As well as using sustainable materials such as FSC and PEFC timber and reducing waste to landfill by 92%, we implemented a number of energy-management initiatives. Guess how much TalkTalk saved on their energy costs in their first year. That’s right, 20%. Here’s how we did it...

Energy sub-metering
We incorporated a sub-metering programme using 24 wireless sub-meters to monitor gas, electricity and even water usage. This allowed TalkTalk to monitor energy on a micro level, all the way down to department level.

A bit of (eco-) friendly competition
On each floor of the new office, we installed wireless digital signage that displayed to staff the energy they were consuming as a team. This made the benefits of their new office tangible and encouraged staff to do even more save energy.
